Via Toledo is one of the main streets of Naples and is about 1.2 kilometers long.
The route starts from Piazza Dante and ends in Piazza Trieste e Trento. Along the road branching off other major streets, squares, churches and palaces. The street is one of the destinations of the Neapolitan shopping and cultural life since the sixteenth century.

It was commissioned by the viceroy Pedro Alvarez de Toledo in 1536 and designed by architects Ferdinando Manlio and Giovanni Benincasa. The road ran along the old city wall west of the Aragonese period, which for defensive ampliations made by Don Pedro, was made obsolete and therefore eliminated.
